What is AMOAPI?
AMOAPI is the Association of Accredited Agents of the African Intellectual Property Organization. It is the representative body of the profession and its membership guarantees competence, security, independence and probity, because it has an important position in the area of Intellectual Property.

What are the objectives of AMOAPI?Ensures the integrity and ethics of the profession,

• Promotes the knowledge of Intellectual Property by training, recycling and information (publications, conferences, seminars…),
• Collects and provides to members and the public all information relating to Intellectual Property,
• Establishes a study and action centre intended to propose to the member States of OAPI an adequate legislation in Intellectual Property favourable for the economic and social development,
• Establishes, develops and maintains cooperation with public authorities and other institutions,
• Encourages youths to be interested in matters relating to Intellectual Property in view of contributing to the development of the creative spirit.

 BACKGROUND HISTORY

THE BIRTH OF AMOAPI

On the 13th January 2000, a few accredited Agents got together, Barrister Denis Ekani, Mrs. Jacqueline Ekeme, Mr. Bertrand Cazenave, Mrs. Rose Douala, Mr. Mbuhnum Nguidjol, Barrister Mary-Concilia Anchang, Mr. Emmanuel Nana Kouanang, and Miss Françoise Ekani.

These were the first steps for the future Association of OAPI Accredited Agents. After several preparatory meetings, a constituent assembly was held on the 29th March 2000 in the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce and Industrial Development, in the presence of a representative of the Minister…

At the end of this meeting, the Bylaws of the Association called “Association of advisers, accredited Agents and Agents in Intellectual Property – ACMAPI” was adopted and the first executive office was elected:

The Association was officially recognized by the competent authorities on the 19th February 2001 under number 90/RDA/J06/BVAPP in accordance with Law N° 90/053 of 19th December 1990.
